Della Robbia Pottery

XIX reminiscencje rodu della Robbia/ XIX reminiscences of della Robbia

Manufaktura Della Robbia Pottery narodziła się zainspirowana poprzez Arts & Crafts - ruch artystyczny Williama Morrisa i zaprzyjaźnionych z nim artystów, i została założona przez Harolda Rathbone`a- prerafaelickiego malarza, zafascynowanego włoską ceramiką XV - XVI wieku

The Della Robbia Pottery was inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, created by William Morris and his artistic circle, and it was founded by Harold Rathbone - pre-raphaelite artist, fascinated by italian pottery from XV and XVI age

Andrea della Robbia

Andrea della Robbia (Florence, 1435-1525)

To reinterpretacja rzeźb Luca della Robbia. Dialog. Jest tu więcej średniowiecznej metafizyki i horror vacui Savonaroli niż humanizmu rzeźb wujka. Niemniej Andrea doprowadził majolikę do perfekcji. Ornament jest cudownie czysty. Rytm jest jak mantra dla oka

This is reinterpretation of Luca della Robbia` sculptures. Dialogue. There is more medieval metaphysics and horror vacui of Savonarola than humanism of his uncle masterpieces. However, Andrea honed majolica to perfection. Ornament is sublimely pure. Rhythm is like a mantra for eye.

Luca della Robbia

Luca della Robbia, (Luca di Simone di Marco della Robbia 1399-1481, Florencja)

Skrawki błękitu i czystość renesansowego rytmu, coś z intymności toskańskiej ceramiki.

Pieces of blue and purity of renaissance rhythm, sth from intimacy of tuscan pottery. Reading his biography, i didn`t found anything interesting. Totally nothing. No adventures, no excitations, serenity ( it was first word, which i though looking on Luca`sculptures). If i could watched them all made of immaculte marble, certainly, the pureness of shape would be still delightfull, but there would be the lack of this peculiar, almost naive intimacy, which enchanted me. Luca tamed the divinity of marble. For me, it is sth on a shape of biblia pauperum, art eliminating intimidation, it reminiscents illuminations in medieval book of hours and immediately, automatically delights my eyes through its ornament.
